Copy-editing and proofreading

I am a freelance copy-editor and proofreader with over 20 years’ experience. I specialise in academic and research-based writing in the arts, humanities and social sciences. If you need to prepare your journal article or book manuscript for publication, or your PhD thesis for submission, I can help. I began my editorial career at Hurst Publishers and am proficient in editing manuscripts according to publishers’ house styles. I have assisted researchers and academics publishing with, among others, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Routledge, I.B. Tauris and McFarland.

I have no qualms in recommending Munizha. From 2014-2018 she assisted me in editing my PhD thesis, with which I graduated from the University of Exeter. I also called upon her services when it was published as a book. Munizha is a thorough and diligent copy-editor who not only shows great aptitude but a high degree of professionalism in her work. Her competency and reliability in whatever issues arose during the completion of my studies proved that she is an invaluable asset and an individual I would not hesitate to call upon again.

I also work with academic institutions and charitable organisations on their communications and publications. Since 2016, I have copy-edited numerous research publications for the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, as well as their web copy, brochures and annual reports. For three years, I was also Managing Editor of In the Long Run, the blog of Cambridge University’s Department of Politics and International Studies.

Munizha has been editing our academic and communication work for more than five years: we are always impressed by her professionalism, responsiveness and the quality of her edits.

Munizha was an excellent Managing Editor for the In the Long Run blog (2017-20) who processed and edited submissions and worked with the team of academic editors in the Department of POLIS to keep the site up to date. She was meticulous, professional, and a great person to work with.

Munizha also provided editorial assistance for my book Transfer State (Oxford, 2019), formatting the notes and bibliography in line with OUP’s guidelines; once again, she did this in a very timely fashion and it came in under budget. I would certainly work with Munizha again and recommend her to others.

My client base is international and many people I work with speak English as a second language. I value my encounters with writers from diverse cultural backgrounds and love learning something new from every job.
