Job description: This is one of several books I copy-edited while working at Hurst. As this was the first thorough history of Iceland in English, it was important that it read fluently and was presented well. It contained many Icelandic names and literary references, so close attention to detail was essential. I liaised frequently with the author as, being unfamiliar with the subject, I did not want to assume anything. We developed a constructive relationship and I found working on this book an enriching experience.
